Driving Sustainability at FFE

Sustainability Post

Sustainability is becoming a key consideration across fire detection, from product design through to delivery and use. This update outlines the practical steps being taken to reduce environmental impact, improve transparency, and support more informed decision-making across the supply chain.

Driving Sustainability at FFE Through TM65 Assessments, Digital Guides and Smarter Packaging

At FFE, we are actively building sustainability into our products and processes, reducing environmental impact while continuing to deliver high-quality fire detection solutions.

TM65 Assessments Underway

We are now completing TM65 assessments across selected Fireray and Talentum products. Developed by CIBSE (Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers), TM65 provides a recognised methodology for calculating the embodied carbon of building services products.

By carrying out these assessments, we are generating transparent, reliable data to support customers in making more informed, sustainability-focused decisions.

Digital-First Product Documentation

We are replacing printed user guides with QR codes across many of our products, enabling instant access to the latest digital documentation.

This shift is already delivering measurable impact. For example, in Fireray One, removing printed guides reduces paper content by more than 50 grams per unit-equating to a saving of nearly 1.5 tonnes of paper annually, or more than 30 trees.

Smarter, Lower-Impact Packaging

We are reviewing our packaging to reduce material use and eliminate unnecessary single-use plastics. Where plastic remains necessary, we are transitioning to recycled alternatives.

These improvements are helping to minimise waste while maintaining the protection required for safe delivery.

What We’re Focusing on Next

Our work continues, with a clear focus on:

  • Designing more efficient packaging to reduce material use

  • Increasing the use of recycled and recyclable materials across our supply chain

  • Identifying product design improvements to reduce embodied carbon and improve efficiency

A Continuous Commitment

Sustainability is an ongoing commitment. From product design and packaging through to operations and supply chain, we are continually identifying ways to reduce our environmental footprint-and to help our customers reduce theirs.

At FFE, protecting people from fire goes hand in hand with protecting the planet.
